The fabric was substantial with little stretch, helping with the accuracy of the blocks. There was a difference in shading/depth of the colors from month to month. This is part of the uniqueness of hand dyeing and it all worked together beautifully in the end. Two main techniques are used, paper piecing and appliquÃ© for the outer corners. This is a great quilt to learn both! Paper piecing is very easy, you have to be able to follow a line. Seriously, that's it and you get these complicated angles and designs. There are several appliquÃ© techniques out there that can be used for this border. The appliquÃ© can also be skipped. Just because it's included doesn't mean it has to be done. I was in a time crunch so left it off and quilted feathers for the outer border. So, why 4 stars? There were a couple of months in the beginning where I had just enough fabric to do the block with almost no scraps. No room for error in cutting. Also, the instructions state the appliquÃ© fabric cuts and vines need to be taken from the extra each month. No extra! It did get better in future months and I finished with enough to do the job. There is little room for error however. This soft quilt of pastels on light fabric is one of those soothing treasures that you just can't stop looking at. Featuring hand dyed fabrics, each star looks so complicated, but the difficulty disappears as each is made easier with paper foundation piecing!

Each month's kit contains pattern, foundation paper, instructions and fabric to complete a 12" star. Borders, applique, and binding fabrics are also included throughout the program.

The monthly cost is $18.99 per month plus shipping costs as follows:

US Shipping - $5.10 per month
Canada Shipping - $11.05 per month
International Shipping - $13.50 per month

Measured Quilt Finishes as a throw size 57" x 71"

You can join the 12 month program at any time, and you can select to receive the normal one block per month, or if you prefer, you may select to receive two blocks per month. Two blocks per month will help to reduce your overall shipping costs. You will begin the following month from your reservation.

Kits are sent the 3rd week of each month.

You may also select to receive your backing fabric. The backing fabric for this quilt is prorated to $11.50 per month for the 12 months and will be sent with the final shipment. Additional exact shipping costs for the final month will apply for those who select the backing costs.
